Milton Glaser's Iconic Poster

After two years of searching, I have finally found an original copy of Milton Glaser's Bob Dylan poster. Sure – you can buy one on ebay, but how exciting is that? This one cost a whole $20 and I can honestly say, that I know where it came from. My wife and I found it while exploring a great little antiques store in Atlanta, GA. The owner, a character herself, had bought this album brand new in the late 1960's and it had been with her ever since.

For those who don't know, Milton Glaser is a living icon of graphic design. After graduating from The Cooper Union, Glaser and two other alums, founded Push Pin Studios. Push Pin Studios, went on to define the era of graphic design through its unique use of typography and illustration. Although Glaser's poster, created in 1967, is said to be inspired by the work of Marcel Duchamp, it stands as a perfect representation of the psychedelic times and Dylan's unique counterculture message.

Luckily the shop owner had taken relatively good care of the poster, while it isn't in mint condition, the little wear marks add an element of personality to the poster. Notice how you can actually see the fold lines that came with the poster being included in the album. The frame is obviously too big and you can see that it is actually on top of some sort of Centennial Olympic poster. Check back to see how it looks once cleaned up and properly framed.
